The purpose of this lesson is to evidence you how to depict the basic structure of a human eye. For this drawing I'll be using a graphite pencil.

Everybody wants to acquire how to draw portraits of people. One of my earliest memories of cartoon is from 2nd grade. Our teacher had pictures of all the Usa presidents posted around the lesser of the classroom. I remember wanting to depict each ane of them before the school year was over.

If I remember correctly, I think I got through about iv or 5. I too remember getting a lot of attention from our teacher and other students for my drawings. To this solar day I can think how good it felt to be recognized and praised for getting a good likeness of the president I was drawing.

To be able to successfully describe people, and more importantly, to testify a adept likeness of that person, y'all must exist able to describe their eyes. At least at a level that is convincing. After all, we all know the optics are the window to your soul. Yous can completely lose a likeness with the eyes.

Only the good thing is eyes are fairly easy to draw. They are also very fun to draw and look cool as a stand alone work of art.

Eye Drawing Mistakes

One affair I noticed virtually many artists who are simply learning to draw portraits is that the eyes usually seem to await "unnatural". Something they all seem to take in common is that they are too straight and the lines all connect evenly without whatsoever overlap anywhere. Like this:

Why wouldn't they look like this? When asked how to draw eyes, the quick response is to depict them like almonds or footballs. That makes sense I guess. The overall shape of the eye is an almond or football game shape. Only there is really much more to drawing the human heart than that. It's not overly advanced or complicated. Just a piffling more in depth.

The next step in the elementary explanation of how to depict eyes, is to add a circumvolve in the center of your almond. After that, add a smaller circle inside of that for the student. Add some eyelashes and you accept yourself a drawing of an center. The trouble is that the result of your drawing doesn't look much like a real center.

Of class, this is perfectly acceptable if this is the look you are going for, and maybe yous are. Adding this fashion of eyes to a cartoon character tin make them look charming and innocent. But since you are reading this tutorial, I'k going to assume you lot want to take your centre drawing to the next level. And then let's get started on today's tutorial.
